When people think of paneer, they tend to think of its application in savory dishes. But the neutral flavor and soft texture of this cheese also lends itself to sweet applications. Case in point, this simple, fantastic paneer dessert that comes together in less than thirty minutes.

Start with grilling some peaches and a block of paneer. In the meantime, you prepare a very simple honey cardamom syrup to drizzle on top. Finish with crunchy pistachios and the dessert is complete.

I love serving this with my poisson en papillote and butter lettuce salad, perfect for summertime!

Paneer & Peaches with Honey Syrup and Pistachios

5 from 1 vote
A summery dessert featuring grilled paneer and peaches with a sweet honey cardamom syrup.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Yields 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces paneer, I recommend Sach paneer; for other store-bought paneer, soak in warm water for 15 minutes then drain before using to soften.
  • 1 peach, cut in half lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • A pinch of ground cardamom
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted pistachios, toasted and roughly chopped

Instructions

  • Heat an outdoor grill to medium heat and grill 6 ounces paneer and peach halves until distinctive marks appear and fruit/paneer softens slightly, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Alternatively, grill fruit and cheese on a cast iron grill pan indoors at high heat for about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Meanwhile, combine 2 tablespoons honey with 2 tablespoons of water and A pinch of ground cardamom in a small bowl. Heat in the microwave for 20 seconds until the honey melts and stir to combine. Set aside.
  • To prep the dessert, arrange the paneer and peaches on a plate. Cut peach halves in half for easier eating. Drizzle the honey syrup on top and garnish with 2 tablespoons unsalted pistachios.

Notes

You won't achieve the amazing grill marks when cooking inside, but the flavor will still be amazing.

  1. I just came from fruit picking from a nearby fruit orchard. This recipe was divine. I just have a small quibble. The Sach paneer is $9.50 a package at The Whole Paycheck Store. Ouch! Perhaps, you could teach us to make homemade paneer. Looking forward to trying out your other recipes

    1. I'm so glad you enjoyed! And wow, it's definitely gone up since I last bought it; it's my favorite store-bought brand because it has the softness of a homemade version, but I totally agree it can be quite pricey! I've made homemade paneer a few times, so I'll definitely work on a recipe for that ASAP. In the meantime, my friend Shweta has a recipe you can follow if you're up for it 🙂 https://masalaandchai.com/homemade-paneer
